May 19, 1887 - The Day the Queen of Hawai'i Visited Hunter College

On May 19, 1887, the Queen of Hawai'i, Queen Kapi'olani, was on a trip from Hawai'i to London for Queen Victoria's celebration of her golden jubilee.  On her way, she stopped in New York City and visited the Normal College (what we now know as Hunter College).

Alumni Visit Hunter College Archives

On Saturday, March 29, the Hunter College Alumni Weekend included a visit to the Hunter College Archives. Guests were shown materials from the Archival collection, including yearbooks, a graduation dress worn by graduate Mary Ann Brown in the 1870s, and the Nobel Prize medal awarded in Physiology and Medicine to Hunter alumna Gertrude Elion ’37 for her work on drug development.
