Located on the main floor of the Silberman Building, The Social Work & Urban Public Health Library (SWUPHL) serves the academic and research needs of the Silberman School of Social Work and Hunter’s Urban Public Health, Community Health Education, and Nutrition programs.
The Hunter College Libraries provide Silberman students with electronic access to over 350 databases, 100,000 electronic journals, and a quarter million full-text electronic books. The onsite Silberman First Floor Reading Room contains 1000 of our newest and most circulated print titles. The SWUPHL Collection of 37,000 print books is housed off-site at the Cooperman Library on Hunter’s 68th Street Campus. All library materials (print & electronic) available in the combined CUNY and SUNY library systems are searchable through the electronic OneSearch catalog. Off-site print materials are transported to Silberman through an intra-library delivery service (CLICS) for students to check out at the SWUPHL Circulation Desk.
Faculty Librarians provide drop-in and by-appointment reference services, research consultations, classroom and individual instruction in-person and via Zoom. The library has four reservable group study rooms, group and silent study areas, desktop computers, a laptop computer loan program, photocopiers, printing stations, a book scanner, and a suite of assistive technology including Dragon Naturally Speaking, FUSION (Jaws/ZoomText), and Kuzweil 1000 and 3000.
