HistoryMakers Oral History Database

The Hunter College Libraries acquired a new database called The HistoryMakers (login required), "an archive of filmed oral history interviews of contemporary African Americans who have shaped modern history and made significant contributions to history, politics, education, law, arts, science, business, the military, and sports."

The Hunter College Libraries asks all faculty to please help us recognize exceptional work done by Hunter students by participating in the library’s annual Paul LeClerc Competition for Best Research Papers.  All departments and special programs in the college may participate.  

Life Magazine Archive online

We now have access to the full Life Magazine archive online. Find it in our Databases list under the letter L. It includes full page scans from the magazine from 1936-2000, with all the advertisements and all context indexed and searchable. 

Visual researchers, take note! This is an excellent place for 20th Century American research.

Library Day

Our annual Library Day celebration was Thursday, April 20, 2017. 

Early in the day we hosted Genna, a librarian from the 67th Street Branch (the closest one to the 68th Street campus) of the New York Public Library. She was here for a couple of hours signing people up for NYPL library cards and handing out free goodies and information.
