Interlibrary Loan Policy

Interlibrary Loan Patron Policy

Interlibrary Loan Privileges

Undergraduate Students: 5 at one time
Graduate Students: Unlimited
Faculty/Staff: Unlimited

Please note that these privileges apply to patrons in good standing. Hunter Alumni do not have Interlibrary Loan privileges, but the reference librarians will be happy to assist them in finding other lending venues.

To request an Interlibrary Loan, you will need to log on to ILLiad with your NetID and password. Instructions for requesting materials can be found on the ILLiad Logon page.

Renewals

Renewals are granted at the discretion of the owning library. A 4-week tentative extension will immediately be granted pending the response from the owning library. If the request is approved the original extension date will apply. If denied, the material must be returned immediately.

Recalls

Interlibrary loans may be recalled by the owning library at any time. Please be advised that as with any books checked out, the due date given may change if the item is recalled. Fines may apply if the book is recalled.

Overdues

Anyone with overdue interlibrary loans over 10 days due may not place additional requests until all overdue materials are returned. Overdue interlibrary loans will result in a block on all Circulation transactions, including checking out books, renewing books, and placing CLICS requests. Delinquences may also result in a Registrar hold.

In addition to the book, once an overdue has exceeded 6 weeks, your library account may be billed for the cost of the replacement. Payment may be made by check or money order only. Once the Hunter Libraries has made payment to the owning library, patrons must pay for the item's replacement. At this point, patrons will not be refunded if the book is found.

Interlibary Loan Policy for Lending to Other Institutions
