Working Together to Make Cooperman Library a Clean, Comfortable Place to Study

Hunter College Libraries are excited to welcome students back for the Fall 2026 semester!  The Libraries are here to help you in all facets of your academic career. One of the most important things we can provide is a welcoming, clean, and orderly space .  We have heard your complaints—yes, we read Reddit!--and are collaborating with Public Safety and the Student Care Team to ensure that our spaces best serve your needs.

Food is not permitted in the libraries.  While we know that it’s sometimes nice to study over a snack or a meal, food in the library creates waste, invites pests, and can irritate other users.  The cafeteria space adjacent to the coffee kiosk right outside the Cooperman Library is there for you to eat and socialize .  Drinks are still permitted in spill-proof containers.

Additionally, Cooperman library staff will be doing walkthroughs with Public Safety to ensure that the library remains a safe and peaceful place for study and quiet collaborationGeneral study areas are for quiet independent study, but we do have Study Rooms for collaborative work.

We encourage members of the Hunter College community to work with us to ensure the Hunter College Libraries spaces best serve the needs of all users.  Please join us in this effort and let’s all have a great fall semester!
