The committee assumed some of the duties and responsibilities of the former Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of the Normal/Hunter College which functioned from 1888 to 1915. The Hunter College Administrative Committee produced a variety of documents consisting of minutes, resolutions, academic appointments, promotions, leaves of absence, retirements and resignations, curriculum changes and recommendations, capital budgets, contracts, and grants and awards. On January 25, 1963, the Hunter College Administrative Committee was renamed the Hunter College Committee.
