May is the month to celebrate the achievements and contributions of Asian Americans and Asian Pacific Islanders (AAPI) in the U.S.
Did you know May was chosen as AAPI Heritage month because of two important events that happened in U.S. history during May? The first event was on May 7, 1843 when the first Japanese arrived in the U.S. and the second event occurred on May 10, 1869 when the transcontinental railroad was completed with the majority of workers who laid down the tracks were Chinese immigrants.
