Searching in E-Reserves

Open http://library.hunter.cuny.edu in another browser window to work through this tutorial side by side.

Many items at the Reserve Desk are personal items that are provided by the course professor. Videos, DVDs, articles, as well as books, may fall into this category.
The Reserves staff needs the location and call number to find the item. The instructor’s name, or course information, may not be sufficient. If a search in the CUNY Course Reserve finds nothing, try searching in the Docutek ERes system. All Reserve items are now comprised within.
To use the Docutek ERes System to locate Reserve items:

1) click on the Reserves Tab in the center of the page

2) then click on Document Title/Author

3) on the next screen type the item's title or author, omitting articles like 'a', 'an' & 'the'.

From your results page scan through the Title column to see if your item is listed. Note the Year and Author as sometimes there are different versions of the book on reserve.

If you find your item, click on the link in the Course Number column at the far left. It might say RESERVE000 or have a class associated with it.

If your item had RESERVE000 as the link you will now be looking at a larger list of items. Scan through the Title column to find your item again.

Finally, click on your item's title. That will open a new window that has "Document Info" in it. Copy the 'Call Number' -- that is what the Reserves Desk needs to get your item to you.
