This is a tremendously helpful site which provides thousands of links on a large variety of topics.  While it was created for the homebound disabled who need information in an easy to access format, it can be a great help to everyone on topics ranging from Shakespeare to shin splints.

American Council of the Blind

Includes full text articles from The Braille Forum going back to 1990.  A list of helpful resources includes "Braille: History, Use and Current Research," "Legislative Information," "Guide Dogs," "Computer Resources," and "Catalogs for people who are blind or visually impaired."

American Foundation for the Blind

Information resources, reports, fact sheets, a calendar of events and conferences in the blindness field make this a helpful site.  Be aware that much of the information pertains to the Foundation itself.

The Arc of the United States

The Arc is a "national organization of and for people with mental retardation and related disabilities and their families."  Information includes a weekly bulletin on legislation, a discussion board, and an excellent list of links.

Disabled Peoples' International

As its name suggests, this Canadian web site features United Nations, as well as other multi-national statements, news releases, announcements and declarations.  Also features a free on-line edition of "Disability International" in English, French and Spanish.

ASB Blind Resources Home Page

Associated Services for the Blind (ASB) mainly serves the Philadelphia/South Jersey region, but their web site has a great set of links for the blind and includes a recorded periodicals service which offers subscriptions to over 20 national periodicals recorded in their entirety on audio cassettes and sent to subscribers via mail.

Down Syndrome

Includes information on international organizations, parent matching and support groups, events and conferences, inclusion and education resources, health care guidelines for individuals with Down Syndrome as well as medical articles and family essays.

Shriver Center Home Page

An excellent site which "promotes understanding of neurological and behavioral development with special emphasis on meeting challenges associated with mental retardation and other developmental disabilities."  There is a great deal of information which is well organized.  Click on "Contents" to see the break down of topics.
