Book Review Contest

FIRST PRIZE: $100 GIFT CERTIFICATE!

Sponsored by the Friends of the Hunter College Library

Has a book ever:
Changed your life? Increased your understanding of yourself or others? Broadened your outlook? Piqued your curiosity about something? Raised your consciousness? Changed the way you feel? Encouraged you to do something?
If so, tell us about it and you may win one of four prizes!

To celebrate National Library Week, the Friends of the Hunter College Library are sponsoring the annual Charlotte Katz Millenson Competition for students.

Tell us about the influence of a book on your life in not more than 5 typed pages, double spaced. Your entry may be in the form of an essay or a book review. The book could be from your childhood, or one you just finished reading. It may have been a novel you read for pleasure or an assigned reading for a class, and it could have been written at any time, on any subject.

The contest is open to all currently enrolled Hunter College students and will be judged in two categories, undergraduate and graduate, by a panel composed of members of The Friends of the Library.

A total of four gift certificates will be awarded:

Undergraduate students
Graduate students
First Prize
$100
$100
Second Prize
$50
$50

The cover page of the review should have your name, address and telephone number, and whether you are an undergraduate or graduate student. So that anonymity is preserved during the judging process, do not type your name on the text of the review.

To enter the competition, any time between Mar. 3 and Mar. 28 2008, place your entry in a sealed envelope in the box at the Circulation Desk (3rd floor) of Wexler Library, or at the Circulation Desks of the Health Professions or Social Work Libraries. Submitted entries will not be returned. Only one entry per student, please. Winners will be announced at the Hunter Library Day reception on April 8, 2008.
If you have any questions about contest procedures, please contact Linda Dickinson at 772-4168.
