Computing Resources in the Wexler Library

Floor 7

  • 2 CUNY+ kiosks used for checking CUNY+ only.
  • No internet access.
  • No  software.

Floor 7 Computer Lab

  • Opens at 9am and 10am on Saturdays and 11am on Sundays, closes 15 minutes before the library closes. During exam hours the lab remains open until 1:45am weekdays and 11:45pm on weekends.
  • Closes periodically for instruction, plan ahead and make a note of the closings by signs posted outside the lab or checking our online calendar for instruction in the library at:  http://library.hunter.cuny.edu/events
  • 3 Apple computers for student use
  • 36 Dell computers for student use
  • 1 staff station
  • 1 teacher station
  • 1 quick print station
  • All computers have Microsoft Office 2010 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • All computers have Adobe Flash Player, Adobe Reader X Pro, End Note X5, Publisher 2010, Mathemtaica 7.0, PASW Statistics 18, Zoomtext 9.1.
  • All computers can be used for internet access.
  • 2 laser b/w print stations
  • No color printers
  • No cell phones please (turn phone off or silence).
  • No loud talking please. Students working together must keep all noise down in this lab as many use this lab for silent work. Other areas that students may work together without talking restrictions are 4th, 1st and B1 floors.
  • Laser printing use is limited to Onecard access only.
  • Students may add any amount of money to their OneCards on the 4th floor in the microforms section. It does not accept coins and this is a non-cash library, so if change is needed the library does not make change.
  • No time limit on these machines, however, if you leave your machine for more than 15 minutes and there are students waiting, we will move your belongings and allow the next student waiting access to that machine.

Floor 6

  • 26 Dell computers
  • All computers have Microsoft Office 2010 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • All computers have Adobe Flash Player, Adobe Reader X Pro, End Note X5, Publisher 2010, Mathemtaica 7.0, PASW Statistics 18, Zoomtext 9.1.
  • All computers can be used for internet access.
  • 2 laser b/w print station
  • 1 color printer available for use from Floor 6 computers only.
  • Laser printing use is limited to Onecard access only.

Floor 5

  • 1 CUNY+ Workstation used for checking CUNY+ only.
  • No internet access.
  • No Office software.

Floor 4

  • All Computers on this floor are reserved for Internet research and academic work only.
  • 26 Dell computers for student use.
  • 1 accessibility computer with Microsoft Office 2010, Jaws and Zoomtext.
  • All computers can be used for internet access.
  • All computers have Microsoft Office 2007 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • 2 laser b/w print stations.
  • 4 quick print stations.
  • Laser printing use is limited to Onecard access only.
  • One Onecard machine.
  • One Microform machine with printing capability.
  • All computers may be used for group study.
  • 2 scanning stations to USB storage or email.

Floor 2

  • 5 CUNY+ Workstations used for checking CUNY+ only.
  • 1 accessibility computer for reserves which has Zoomtext, Jaws, Kurzweil (a screen-reader package)
  • Laptop loaning (both Apple and Dell) available at Reserve desk

Floor 1

  • 1 CUNY+ Workstation used for checking CUNY+ only.
  • 12 Dell computers.
  • All computers have Microsoft Office 2010 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • All computers have Adobe Flash Player, Adobe Reader X Pro, End Note X5, Publisher 2010, Mathemtaica 7.0, PASW Statistics 18.
  • All computers can be used for internet access.

Floor 1 Library Classroom—Room E114

  • 24 laptops (Dell) available for classroom/instructor use only.
  • All computers have Microsoft Office 2010 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Internet access is wireless.

Floor B1

Computing Resources in the Schools of Social Work and Public Health Library

  • 3 b/w printers
  • 1 laser printer
  • There are ten study rooms available.
    • Rooms can be checked-out for two hours: first come, first served, there are no reservations.
    • Some of the rooms are large enough to accommodate small groups of two or three students.
    • All rooms have a TV/DVD/VCR
  • All rooms have a PC that prints to the print manager in the reference area of the library.
  • All computers have CUNY+.
  • All computers have Explorer/Firefox.
  • All computers have Adobe.

  • Outside Room 245W there is a computer lab with 30 computers.
  • General reference area has 8 computers.
  • Small lab is in Room 245W and has 14 computers.
  • All computers have Microsoft Office 2010 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
  • All computers have Adobe Flash Player, Adobe Reader X Pro, End Note X5, Publisher 2010, Mathematica 7.0, PASW Statistics 18, Zoomtext 9.1.
  • There are 11 MacBook Laptops available for 3 hour loan.
