RefWorks Workshops at Queenborogh Community College

From one of our colleagues, Sara Rofofsky Marcus, at Queensborough Community College, the following workshops are open to everyone in CUNY. If you have never used RefWorks before, or if you want to learn some of the advanced features, sign up for one of these workshops. Please note – these workshops are in Queens, not at Hunter. Directions to QCC are below:

Title of workshop: RefWorks Basic & Advanced

Introduction to RefWorks: 12:00 p.m. -1:00 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. or 5:30  p.m. to 6:30 p.m. or 6:30 p.m.  to 7:30 p.m.*

This session provides a brief introduction for librarians, students, staff, and faculty exploring RefWorks’ functionality for citation management, note-taking, document sharing, and course readings management.  Topics covered include: account creation, importing data, generating a bibliography, RefShare (sharing references and collaborating), creating a Read-only RefWorks account, and RefMobile.

*These sessions are identical, choose only one.

Basic RefWorks: 2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
This session explores the new RefWorks interface with a thorough introduction to RefWorks functions and instruction methods.  Topics covered include: creating a RefWorks account, importing data, organizing your database, and generating a bibliography.  Writ N Cite III is also covered.

Advanced RefWorks: 3:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
This session explores advanced citation management, bibliography and endnote production and instruction methods.  Topics covered include: RSS feeds, advanced searching, globally editing references, duplicate searching, backing up an account, and using the output style preview utility.

Directions:
LIRR
Any LIRR to Jamaica, then Q30 to Springfield Blvd / Horace Harding Expressway.  Walk North to 56th Ave, turn right and the campus will be on your left.
LIRR Hempstead line to Queens Village, transfer to Q27 towards Flushing (comes on campus)
LIRR Port Washington line to Flushing, transfer to Q27 (comes on campus)
LIRR Port Washington line to Bayside, a short cab ride.

Local Bus
Any Jamaica Ave or Hillside Ave bus to Springfield Blvd, transfer to Q27 towards Flushing (comes on campus)

Express Bus (from Manhattan)
QM1A (towards Glen Oaks) to Springfield Blvd / Horace Harding Expressway.  Walk North to 56th Ave, turn right and the campus will be on your left.

Subway
F train to 169 Street, transfer to Q30 (towards Little Neck) to Springfield Blvd / Horace Harding Expressway.  Walk North to 56th Ave, turn right and the campus will be on your left.
E or J train to Parsons Blvd / Archer Ave, transfer to Q30 (towards Little Neck) to Springfield Blvd / Horace Harding Expressway.  Walk North to 56th Ave, turn right and the campus will be on your left.
7 train to Flushing / Main Street, transfer to Q27 (comes on campus).

Driving
Take the Long Island Expressway to Exit 29, Springfield Boulevard.  Go north to 56th Avenue.
