September 21st, 2011 by John Carey
October 24th through the 30th marks the observance of Open Access Week 2011, when libraries and institutions nationwide will be raising awareness of open access publishing. As part of Open Access Week, the Hunter Libraries–in conjunction with the Gene Center–will host a talk by Robert Schatz, North American Sales Manager for the publisher BioMed Central. Mr. Schatz will offer an overview of open access publishing in science, technology, and medical fields, along with an inside look at the workings of BioMed Central and its parent company, Springer Science & Business Media. Faculty within and beyond the sciences are invited to attend and learn about what open access can mean for you.
The talk will take place on Thursday, Oct. 27, from 3-5 pm. The venue is the Gene Center’s Internet2 Video Collaboration Facility, Hunter Main campus, Room HN 310.
