Today, April 30, is the last day of National Poetry Month.  Celebrate by participating in Poem in Your Pocket Day!  Visit this link for download-able PDFs of pocket-sized poems.

New York City participates each year, and there are events all over the city in which you can participate.  Here are some events going on today:

Poem in Your Pocket Day – New York Hall of Science
4/30/2009 – 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Put a poem about science in your pocket when you visit the New York Hall of Science on Poem in Your Pocket Day, Thursday April 30. The Science Technology Library will have poems on display and poems ready for your pocket – and they will all have something to do with the wonderful world of science! Adults (age 18 & over) 11; children (2 – 17, college w/ID) 8; seniors (age 62 & over) 8.

Poetry in the Garden – New York Botanical Garden
4/30/2009 – 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
National Poem in your Pocket Day Read Poems inspired by the plant world or create your own poem as you enjoy the spring beauty at the Garden. Open poetry reading 3-5pm. Garden admission 20 adults; 18 seniors and students; 8 children.

Poem in Your Pocket Day–Poetry on the Waterfront – Poets House
4/30/2009 – 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM
Poets House staff will hand out free pocket-sized poems to ferry passengers arriving at the new Port Authority Ferry Terminal at the World Financial Center, just steps away from the new home for Poets House opening in September of 2009. Free.
