The Hunter College Libraries announce a new Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service called ILLiad. Previously, faculty and graduate students were the only ones with the ability to request books and articles not available within CUNY from other libraries. Now, with ILLiad, undergraduate students can also request books and articles from non-CUNY libraries.
As with all new services, there are new rules and regulations. Please take a moment to read over the new policies so your requests can get processed in the fastest way possible. For example, for book requests, individuals must still search the CUNY system first before initiating an ILLiad request. For more information, read on…
Beginning March 31, 2010, The Hunter College Libraries launched the automated ILLiad Interlibrary Loan Service
Undergraduate students are also now permitted Interlibrary Loan borrowing. See the important new policies (http://library.hunter.cuny.edu/ill.htm) regarding borrowing and overdue Interlibrary Loans.
Some Advantages of ILLiad
- Submit, track, and manage your interlibrary loan requests.
- Faster delivery of items.
- Copy requests for articles and book chapters can be accessed from any internet ready computer within 1-5 business days.
- Patron accounts will retain a borrowing history of all ILL transactions.
Getting Started with ILLiad
Fill out a short online registration form in order to create an account. You will need the following:
1) A Hunter College photo ID with a barcode that has been registered at one of the libraries.
2) A Hunter email username & password.
To find the form select “Interlibrary Loans” under “Specialized Services” from the Libraries’ home page.
Your CUNY+ account will only reflect CUNY CLICS and Hunter books. Your ILLiad account will only reflect Interlibrary Loan requests. Please remember that CUNY books must still be ordered in CUNY+ through the CLICS service (http://library.wexler.hunter.cuny.edu/faculty_services.htm#CLICS).
A patron’s ILLiad account will only reflect ILLiad transactions beginning March 31st. Patrons inquiring about Interlibrary Loan requests before March 31st can email the Hunter College Libraries Interlibrary Loans Office at firstname.lastname@example.org.
