New Images Database from NCBI
November 9th, 2010 by John Carey
Researchers and students in biomedical disciplines–and especially PubMed users–will already be familiar with some of the many tools and databases available from the NCBI (National Center for Biotechnology Information). Now, the NCBI has added one more offering–a database of images appearing in articles from their full-text collections. These images range from photographs or illustrations to figures, charts, and data.
To access the Images database, go to http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/images (or select “Images” from the pull-down menu in the home search screen of PubMed) and enter a topic in the search field. Other features familiar to PubMed users, such as the Advanced Search and Search Builder functions, are still available when searching images.
