Cool Endote and Refworks Tool for PubMed Users

December 2nd, 2007 by Laura Cobus

Do you have a research paper from a previous semester with a great bibliography that you would like to add to Refworks or Endote without the effort of retyping the references or searching PubMed? Well, now you can!! There is a great new tool in HubMed (an alternative interface to PubMed) called Citation Finder. It’s very easy to use: simply cut-n-paste the text of your bibliography into Citation Finder and HubMed will find them if they are in PubMed. Then you can easily export your citations into either EndNote or RefWorks. Please let us know if you have any questions regarding Citation Finder, RefWorks, or EndNote.

This is a great tool. Of course, you can also use it to add all entries in the bibliography of any publication to your EndNote of RefWorks library with very little effort. This, in turn, may lead some to give in to the temptation of “bibliography padding”, i.e., adding references not actually used/read just to make a paper appear to be based on more literature than it actually is.
