2013 Book Review Contest

February 27th, 2013 by Stephanie Margolin

The library offers a chance to win both recognition and prizes for your writing.

Book Review Contest

Has a book ever changed your life? Increased your understanding of yourself or others? Broadened your outlook? Piqued your curiosity about something? Encouraged you to do something? Raised your consciousness? Changed the way you feel?

Tell us and you may win one of four prizes!

To celebrate National Library Week, Hunter College Libraries is sponsoring the 2013 Charlotte Katz Millenson Book Review Contest.

WRITING THE BOOK REVIEW
Tell us about the influence of a book on your life in approximately 1500-1700 words, 12-point font, double spaced. Your entry may be in the form of an essay or a book review. The book could be from your childhood, one you just finished reading, a novel you read for pleasure, or an assigned reading for a class. The book could have been written at any time, on any subject.

ELIGIBILITY AND AWARDS
The contest is open to all currently enrolled Hunter College students and will be judged in two categories, undergraduate and graduate, by a panel composed of Hunter College faculty. A total of four gift cards will be awarded:

Undergraduate Students
1st Prize      $250 Gift Card
2nd Prize    $150 Gift Card

Graduate Students
1st Prize      $250 Gift Card
2nd Prize    $150 Gift Card

HOW TO ENTER
Include a cover page with the book review displaying your name, address, and telephone number. Indicate your enrollment status (Undergraduate or Graduate). To preserve the anonymity of the judging process, do not type your name on the text of the actual review.

To enter the competition, email your book review as an attachment to mbr0010@hunter.cuny.edu, with “Book Review Contest Entry” in the subject line.

All entries must be submitted by April 1, 2013. Submitted entries will not be returned. Only one entry per student.

Winners will be announced at the Hunter Library Day reception on April 18, 2013. If you have any questions about contest procedures, please contact Mason Brown at 212-396-7660.
